For Sandra Jordan an appreciation for exquisite old world craftsmanship developed during years of observation, research, travel, and teaching. Born in Peru, Sandra was exposed to many traditional artisan crafts during her childhood. She remembers going to the market with her aunts to select the cotton for her dresses and then choosing the design and colors of the hand embroidery for each dress. That was the beginning of Sandra’s lifelong passion for time-honored art forms and for the incredible diversity of products born from long-standing traditions.

As a result of her stepfather’s work in the diplomatic corps, Sandra traveled extensively from an early age, receiving her primary and secondary education in British schools around the world. Her university education includes an undergraduate degree International Affairs and a Masters degree in Education.

After completing her studies, Sandra worked as an educator and founded a firm providing translation services.

From 1993 until 2007 Sandra Jordan served as Creative Director at Jordan Winery. In that capacity, she revamped the hospitality facilities and public areas, headed packaging and product design and authored the book The Art of Decanting (Chronicle Books), which is now in its fifth printing.

It was also during her time at Jordan Winery that Sandra was inspired to design luxury products that created jobs in her native Peru. In 2006 she launched Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca, an extensive line of luxury textiles for the design trade. Originally inspired by the colors of the harvest in the California wine country, Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca is now represented in design showrooms in the US, Europe, and around the world.
